Halal Recipe: Acar Buah (Sweet Spicy Fruit Pickle)

Recipe: Acar Buah (Sweet Spicy Fruit Pickle)

| Time: 20 mins (no cooking needed) | Yields: 1 small jar

Ingredients:

1/2 cup dried fruits (raisins, apricots, dates, etc.)

1/4 cup candied or dried citrus peel (optional)

1–2 tbsp chili paste or chili powder

2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp vinegar

1/4 tsp salt

2 tbsp oil (neutral)

Optional: a bit of fried shallot or garlic for extra depth

Instructions:

1. Prep the fruits:

If too dry or hard, soak in warm water for 5–10 minutes. Drain well.

2. Make the sauce:

In a bowl, mix chili paste, vinegar, sugar, salt, and oil until combined into a thick paste.

3. Mix:

Add fruit and toss gently to coat. Adjust taste — sweeter or spicier if you like.

4. Store:

Keep in a jar or container. Can be eaten right away, but better after 1 day chilled.

Why it works:

No stove needed

Long-lasting and unique

Pairs well with nasi minyak, briyani, or eaten as-is!
