Halal Recipe : Menemen (Turkish Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes and Peppers)

Menemen It’s a flavorful, cozy dish made with sautéed tomatoes, green peppers, and softly scrambled eggs—often served with fresh Bazlama to scoop it up.

On this cozy morning, with the rain gently tapping against the window, what could be better than warm Bazlama and a pan of Menemen? Simple, flavorful, and rooted in Turkish tradition—this dish is a soulful reminder of barakah in simplicity.

Ingredients:

-3 tbsp olive oil

-2 green Turkish peppers or bell peppers (chopped)

-2 medium tomatoes (peeled & diced)

-3 large eggs

-Salt & black pepper to taste

-Chili flakes or paprika (optional)

-Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a pan. Sauté the peppers until softened.

2. Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 5–7 minutes until they break down and become saucy.

3. Season with salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes.

4. Crack the eggs directly into the pan, gently stir to mix slightly, but do not over-scramble.

5. Let the eggs set softly—creamy and just cooked.

6. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately with warm Bazlama or flatbread.

Sometimes the best flavors come from the humblest of ingredients. Menemen reminds us that barakah often lies in simplicity, especially when shared with love and shukr. May each bite be a reminder to be grateful for the rizk Allah provides—rain or shine.
