Time: 1 hour (includes resting) | Makes: 4 breads
Ingredients:
-2 cups all-purpose flour
-1 tsp dry yeast
-1 tsp sugar
-1/2 tsp salt
-3/4 cup warm water
-2 tbsp plain yogurt (optional for softness)
-1 tbsp oil or butter (for cooking)
Instructions:
1. Activate yeast:
In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let sit 5–10 minutes until bubbly.
2. Mix dough:
Add flour, salt, and yogurt. Mix and knead until smooth and soft (about 8–10 minutes). Add a little water or flour as needed.
3. Let it rise:
Cover and rest the dough in a warm spot for 30–40 minutes, until doubled in size.
4. Shape and cook:
Divide into 4 pieces. Roll each into a flat round (about 1cm thick).
Heat a non-stick pan, brush lightly with oil or butter. Cook each flatbread for 2–3 minutes per side until golden with brown spots.
5. Serve hot with eggs, cheese, hummus, or just tear and dip into curry or soup.
Why it works:
No oven needed—just a pan.
Cheap, easy, and feels like something special.
Can freeze and reheat later—perfect for meal prep.
