Bismillah Before Every Bite: A Simple Sunnah, A Big Blessing

In our busy lives, sometimes we forget that the smallest acts can bring the biggest blessings. One of these acts is saying "Bismillah" before eating. It might seem small, but it’s a beautiful Sunnah that connects us to Allah every time we eat or drink.

What Did the Prophet (SAW) Say?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

> "When any of you eats, let him mention the name of Allah. If he forgets to mention the name of Allah at the beginning, let him say: 'Bismillah awwalahu wa akhirahu'"

(Hadith - Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

By starting with Bismillah, we’re not just eating – we’re turning a daily habit into an act of worship.

Why Is It Important?

Brings barakah (blessings) to your meal

Prevents shaytan from joining in your food

Mindful eating – you eat with gratitude

A reminder that everything comes from Allah

Even when you’re just eating something simple like nasi lemak bungkus or a homemade roti telur, saying Bismillah adds meaning.
